Cub Scouts are boys and girls aged between eight and ten-and-a-half years old. They are a key element of the Scouting family and are arguably the most well known and recognised section of Scouting.

Cubs wear the famous dark green uniform and benefit from a broad scouting programme. There are loads of fun things to do as a Cub Scout. Activities such as climbing, swimming, bowling, exploring, and camping are just a few of the the activities we have pursued in this last year. Many of the activities can be recognised ,and badges achieved. These are then displayed upon their uniform and worn with pride. This combination of achievement and reward can be instrumental in helping the Cubs gain confidence.

Our main aim is to provide a programme of fun, engaging, and at times, adventurous activities which allow children to develop their own skills, talents and sense of self. We achieve this through weekly pack meetings, camps and trips out where we'll encourage the Cubs to get to know other people, learn about themselves, explore the world around them, discover creative and practical skills, and explore beliefs and attitudes.

In order for a child to become a Cub Scout, they are expected to wear uniform, attend at least 4 'starter meetings', learn about the basic history of scouting and be able to accept and recite the Cub Scout Promise and Law:

CUB SCOUT PROMISE
I Promise that I will do my best,
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people,
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

CUB SCOUT LAW
Cub Scouts always do their best,
Thinks of others before themselves,
And do a good turn every day.

On completing all 4 of these objectives, the child will partake in a small investiture ceremony where they'll officially become members of the group and the worldwide scout movement. If the Cub was formerly a Beaver, they will also receive a 'Moving on' badge as a sign they have successfully made the transition.
